In the midst of the war against Mexico, Riley and some of his fellow soldiers go to a Catholic Church and are cruelly punished as a result. Because of this, they defect to the Mexican Army, where they meet guerrilla leader Cortina, with whom they forge an unlikely bond.

Colonel Greg Brandon (Christopher George), an American serving at a Royal Air Force base in England, has a grand military dream: a risky plan to send a fleet of 1,000 bombers to a German airplane factory as a strategic strike. When he is goaded by the football team into a dangerous ceremony, Ryan falls into a whirlpool and emerges in the magical land of Tao. His leg fully healed, he is led to Master Chung (Chao-Li-Chi), whose heroic warriors battle against greedy Lord Komodo (Angus Macfadyen). Ryan joins their fight.
