After the passengers narrowly survive a series of ambushes from Native Americans, they come to believe that a spy is on board, helping plot the attacks. Suspicions fall on Davy's innocent partner, Red Hawk (Philip Reed), so he and Davy set out to find the real culprit.

When Rick Martin (Sterling Hayden) goes back to his hometown to warn the townspeople of an imminent attack by marauders, he finds he has been exiled due to his reputation as a gunslinger for hire. Martin discovers that his late mother had been cheated out of her homestead by Canby Judd (William Bishop), who is now affianced to Martin's childhood sweetheart, Laura Mead (Karin Booth). Martin must clear his tarnished name, bring Judd to justice and save the town from the marauders.

As Tex begins to fall for Bull's pretty sister, Helen (Sylvia Findley), he also has to face off against two feuding gangs of rustlers, one led by the tough Heesman (Peter Graves).
