In East Ayrshire, a crew from the special operations team is at the scene of a two-car collision, treating a patient and reassuring her worried husband and son. In Buckie, a variety of work for two local paramedics reveals the breadth of their tightly knit community - from an elderly man with breathing difficulties, to someone who has fallen at home while crafting handmade fishing nets, and finally to the police custody suite where a man refuses medical treatment for a self-inflicted wound to the neck. In Leven, experienced paramedic Donna performs house calls alone, taking care of those who have called 999 but can likely be treated at home, including a woman who has been struck off by her GP and needs some mental health support, and a man who has just returned from a hospital stay and is worried about his health. Donna's work ensures ambulances and hospital resources are freed up for other emergencies.

It has been a challenging year, and now it's time to discover just what last winter's wet weather might have cost them. With tensions about taking over the family farm subsiding, Nick and Holly are diversifying with a new cattle venture in Dumfries and Galloway. The whole family take their best easy-care sheep to auction in Carlisle. Brian continues to develop the new rain garden, an area that is being created as a response to last year’s wet summer conditions, and the pair get to work pruning. Lots of varieties in the garden flower early, so now is the time to cut them back to encourage new growth, and more colour, for next year. Lizzie is also planting up hanging baskets, and there’s a visit to a community garden in Dunfermline.

At the only kilt shop in Ireland, tradition and passion come together to create more than just garments - this team’s craft connects people to their heritage. Run by Grahame Harris and his mother, Kim, this unique shop has become a go-to destination for Ulster-Scots communities, for whom the wearing of tartan is an outward celebration of identity. Whether it’s a wedding, a movie, a musical performance or even some last-minute interior design, if it’s tartan you need, then this dedicated team is here to help. We meet Samir, a highly skilled tailor from Syria who is known for his precision, and the team’s youngest member, Claire, who seeks out every opportunity to learn more about this venerable craft and develop her skills. This is a hectic year for the shop. Along with keeping their regular customers kitted out, the team prepares for an Ulster-Scots wedding, at which different family tartans take pride of place in a celebration to honour tradition and celebrate love. And Grahame is on hand to make the last-minute uniform adjustments for the Campbell College Pipe Band as they prepare for Burns Night festivities.

Claire’s kiltmaking apprenticeship takes a significant leap forward with the arrival of consultant kiltmaker Tracey from Scotland. With Tracey’s expert guidance, Claire’s skills are honed as she learns some new and more advanced techniques. Meanwhile, Grahame is tasked with helping the town of Donaghadee create its own unique tartan. Turning to the local primary school, Graham invites the children to get creative with their designs. Their contributions will hopefully help shape the town’s tartan, fostering a shared sense of pride and identity within the local community. Meanwhile, Kim takes a well-earned break to attend the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, where she catches up with some familiar faces and cheers on her customers in a number of different competitions. The shop faces a unique challenge when a four-legged customer walks through the door. Will his outfit be ready in time for Belfast’s first Tartan Day dander? The team play a pivotal role in preparations for this unique event, where musicians and supporters take to the street wearing something tartan before gathering at Belfast’s City Hall for a special tartan tea.
